Vildagliptin is an inhibitor that increases insulin release from the pancreas in response to meals and decreases the amount of glucose produced by the liver. Metformin improves the sensitivity of the body’s cells to insulin, reduces glucose production in the liver, and increases glucose uptake by muscles, thus lowering blood sugar levels.
